Are You Thyroid Aware?

Many people don’t know what the thyroid does, or how important it is for the body. This is why January has been named Thyroid Awareness Month, and we at Trialbee Health are of course joining in on spreading awareness about the thyroid!

What is the Thyroid?

The thyroid is a gland in your neck, just below the Adam’s apple. Its shape resembles a butterfly.

The thyroid gland produces a hormone called thyroid hormone. The thyroid hormone is vital to keep the body functioning as it should.

Why is the thyroid important?

The hormone in the thyroid is spread to different parts in the body through the bloodstream.

It helps the body with many important things, such as:

  • Helping it use energy
  • Keeping it warm
  • Keeping vital organs (like the brain and heart) working as they should.

If the thyroid for some reason doesn’t produce the hormone as it should, it can cause feelings of coldness, tiredness, and even depression.

Today, we urge everyone to spread awareness about the thyroid to create better knowledge about what it does and why it’s so important.

By understanding the thyroid, we can detect problems connected to it early, which is key to keeping the body healthy!
